Descrizione

Si tratta del primo album pubblicato da Petrucci a quindici anni di distanza dal precedente Suspended Animation e si compone di nove brani realizzati con la partecipazione del bassista Dave LaRue e del batterista Mike Portnoy, segnando la prima collaborazione tra i due musicisti dopo circa dieci anni, quando Portnoy abbandonò i Dream Theater.[4]

Come anticipazione all'album, il 7 agosto 2020 Petrucci ha reso disponibile il video musicale della title track, che mostra i tre musicisti eseguire le rispettive parti nei propri studi. Terminal Velocity è stato pubblicato digitalmente e in streaming il 28 agosto dello stesso anno ed è stato successivamente distribuito anche in edizione CD e doppio LP a partire dal 30 ottobre.[3]

Terminal Velocity is the second studio album by Dream Theater guitarist John Petrucci, released digitally on August 28, 2020[5][2] and on October 30, 2020 for the physical version (vinyl and CD).[5] This is his first solo album since 2005's Suspended Animation.[3] During the recording sessions, Petrucci was reunited with his former Dream Theater bandmate Mike Portnoy, making it their first collaboration since the latter left the band in 2010.[3][6][4] Bassist Dave LaRue, who performed on Suspended Animation, returns for this album.[3]
