Il disco


Nel 1990, in seguito alla pubblicazione dell'EP A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules from the Centre of the Ultraworld, contenente la traccia omonima, uno dei suoi autori, Jimmy Cauty, abbandonò gli Orb, occupati nella composizione del loro primo album in studio.[1] L'unico membro rimasto Alex Paterson, riprese le registrazioni di Adventures con il supporto d Martin Glover, Steve Hillage, Kris "Trash" Weston, Andy Falconer e di altri collaboratori.[2] Dopo tre settimane dedicate alle registrazioni di Adventures, l'album venne pubblicato nel mese di agosto del 1991.[3]

Adventures ha ricevuto recensioni perlopiù positive da parte della critica e della stampa. Robert Sandall del quotidiano inglese The Sunday Times lo definì una pubblicazione seminale nell'ambient e nella musica da ballo.[4] Il settimanale britannico Melody Maker lo piazzò al ventiduesimo posto fra i trenta album migliori del 1991.[5] Pitchfork lo piazzò all'ultimo posto nella classifica dei cento migliori album degli anni novanta, reputandolo "abbastanza liquido da farti addormentare e spaventosamente esotico da eccitare abbastanza i tuoi nervi sulla strada del rave".[6]

The Orb’s Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld ist das Debüt-Studioalbum der britischen Musikband The Orb. Es erschien am 2. April 1991 als Doppelalbum auf dem Label Big Life. Das Album ist eine zweistündige, ununterbrochene, progressive Komposition mit Einfluss von verschiedenen Genres (darunter House, Dub Reggae und Hip-Hop) und enthält Samples und Sound Effekte. The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld is the debut studio album by English electronic music group The Orb, released as a double album on 2 April 1991 by Big Life. It is a continuous, progressive composition evoking a two-hour psychedelic trip that draws from various genres (including ambient, house, dub reggae, and hip hop) and incorporates samples and sound effects. Much of the album was recorded after founding member Jimmy Cauty left the group, leaving Alex Paterson as the central member, with additional contributions by Andy Falconer, Kris Weston, and others.
