Il disco

Il doppio cd è stato registrato il 9 novembre 2006 ed è uscito il 5 novembre 2007 in Europa e il 20 novembre 2007 nel resto del mondo. È il primo album live degli Opeth registrato su cd. Il titolo è una citazione della prima demo degli Iron Maiden, The Soundhouse Tapes, e del luogo dove è stato registrato il concerto, il Roundhouse di Londra.

Mikael Åkerfeldt ha detto: "Il concerto al Roundhouse sarà uno spettacolo da ricordare per molte ragioni, soprattutto perché il gruppo era nei momenti migliori del Ghost Reveries Tour". Inoltre si tratta del primo album registrato dopo l'uscita del batterista Martin Lopez, sostituito da Martin Axenrot, e l'ultimo col chitarrista Peter Lindgren.

The Roundhouse Tapes is a live double album by Swedish progressive metal band Opeth. The CD was recorded on 9 November 2006 and was released on 23 October 2007 in the US,[2] on 5 November in Europe, and on 20 November in the rest of the world. A two-disc DVD version was released on 10 November 2008, and includes exclusive menu music written by Mikael Åkerfeldt and Per Wiberg.[8] The title is a play on the name of Iron Maiden's first release The Soundhouse Tapes, as well as the venue where the record was recorded.[citation needed] Åkerfeldt said, "The Roundhouse concert will always be a very memorable gig for us for many reasons, but most importantly it caught the band at the peak of the Ghost Reveries tour". This is the final Opeth release with Peter Lindgren.
