Descrizione

Si tratta di un doppio album o meglio di due dischi separati ma inseriti in un'unica produzione. Come spiegato da Townsend, il primo disco, intitolato Sky Blue, è proposto a firma Devin Townsend Project, mentre il secondo, Dark Matters, è posto a firma Ziltoid e rappresenta un concept album che fa da seguito a Ziltoid the Omniscient (2007) e narra le vicende dell'omonimo extraterrestre contro il mondo.[1]

Nell'estate 2015 i due dischi sono stati distribuiti separatamente dalla Inside Out Music a nome Devin Townsend Project.[2]

Z² (short for Ziltoid 2; pronounced "zed squared" or alternatively "zee two"[5]) is a double album by Canadian musician Devin Townsend and his musical project Devin Townsend Project,[6] released on October 27, 2014.[7] It consists of two albums released together: the sixth album in the Devin Townsend Project series, the rock-oriented Sky Blue, and Dark Matters, a solo metal concept album acting as a sequel to Townsend's 2007 album Ziltoid the Omniscient.[6][8] The main theme of Dark Matters is, according to Townsend, "Ziltoid against the world".[6]
