Запись альбома происходила весной-летом 2002 года в английских студиях Parkgate и Chapel под руководством продюсеров Расса Расселла и Саймона Эфеми (последний в частности известен по работам с Tool и Paradise Lost). Дизайн обложки принадлежит Мику Кенни из группы Anaal Nathrakh.

Несмотря на то, что гитарист Джесси Пинтадо тогда ещё номинально входил в состав группы, все его функции выполнял Митч Харрис (вторая гитара). Альбом считается одним из самых агрессивных, в том числе и в плане текстов, и самым быстрым в истории группы (о чём заявляли и сами музыканты[1]). Пиковая скорость ударных по сравнению с альбомом «From Enslavement To Obliteration» выше в полтора раза.

Последняя песня «The Great Capitulator» реально длится 2 минуты 49 секунд. Далее идёт тишина, вплоть до 9:56. В 9:57 о себе заявляет один из фанатов.

Order of the Leech is the tenth studio album by the British grindcore band Napalm Death, released in 2002 through Spitfire. Although credited in the line-up, Jesse Pintado never performed.[5] The second guitar is actually Mitch Harris overdubbing, hence marking this album's lineup as today's lineup.[6] "The Great Capitulator" is exactly 2:49. At the end of the song, a long silence follows from 2:50 to 9:56. At 9:57 a soundbite comes fading in of a fan speaking of his attitude to metal music, mentioning bands like Krabathor or Immortal. His speech is then translated in Czech. It is the last album in a trilogy to feature these kinds of soundbites, with the others being Leaders Not Followers EP and Enemy of the Music Business.
