Об альбоме


«Popular Problems» был выпущен необычно быстро для Коэна, всего спустя два года после выхода предыдущего его студийного альбома «Old Ideas» (2012)[2]. Соавтором всех песен (за исключением «A Street» и «Born in Chains») выступил продюсер альбома Патрик Леонард.

По мнению рецензента Allmusic, альбом стал лучшей работой Коэна со времён «The Future» (1992). Автор считает, что в свои 80 лет Коэн уверенно показал, что «есть ещё порох в пороховницах» («plenty left in the tank»)[2].
