The group first appeared in the K-pop star Season 3 audition, where they revealed the story behind the group's name Almeng and performed their rendition of the song Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke.TThe group revealed that their team happened to be formed by talking with each other on social media and they felt that they needed some content and named it Almeng, the korean word for content(Almeng is originally a term for the inside of the corn or pastries, and to say someone has no almeng means their content is rather hollow.) and dissed themselves on the show that they look like the mixed sex duo of primates.[3]During the show, the duo temporarily disbanded by the decision of then judge Park Jinyoung, who preferred the duo to be part of a different team in a team mission.[4] The group became part of the Top 6 in the show, but did not managed to be part of the Top 4 in the show.[5]
The group officially released their first single "Let's Forget" (잊자...) on 2014 which was a part of the original sound track for the drama three days.[6]
In 2022, it was announced that the vocal Choi Rin will release a single "Pause" in the name of her new stage name ChoiS, which was named after her family name Choi and S stands for Super level, and also a play on the english word choice.[7]
