Mutemath, auch MuteMath oder MUTEMATH, ist eine amerikanische Rockband aus New Orleans, die sich 2002 gründete. Sie verbindet diverse Elemente von Rock, New Wave, Elektro, Acid Rock und Jazz. Die Gruppe wird aktuell von Paul Meany (Rhodes-Piano, Bass, Keytar, Keyboard, Samples, Gesang und Gitarre) als kreativer Kopf alleine weitergeführt.

Mutemath (sometimes styled as MuteMath or MUTEMATH) is an American alternative rock project founded by American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and record producer Paul Meany. Originally co-founded as a band with Darren King in 2002, Meany decided to continue Mutemath as a solo project following King's departure in 2017. Mutemath draws heavily from influences in 1960s and 1970s soul, psychedelic rock, and jam band styles, utilizing vintage guitars and amplifiers as well as Rhodes keyboards, synthesizers, and other electronic instruments such as the keytar.

Es difícil catalogar a Mute Math en un solo género, pues sus integrantes son considerados por sus fanes y crítica especializada como músicos virtuosos y versátiles, siempre buscando una experimentación de sonido constante con cualquier instrumento, incluyendo sillas de metal, y hasta reverberaciones dentro del baño de su estudio de grabación casero. El grupo se conforma con Paul Meany (piano, bajo, keytar, teclados, voz principal, samples y recientemente, guitarra), Darren King en la batería, samples, y programación de instrumentos, Greg Hill en la guitarra principal y coros, y Roy Mitchell-Cárdenas en guitarra, upright bajo. Su repertorio incluye piezas que van desde el rock, new wave, electro, psicodelia y jazz.[1]
