Toneisha Harris was born on October 2, 1975, in Salisbury, Maryland. When she was 12, she joined her family's gospel group, The Veney Gospel Singers.[2] She left the group she was 27 and decided to pursue her own career. In 2012, she auditioned for The Voice and was supposed to go on, until her son was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 12.[3]
