Biografia
Nata a Islamabad, in Pakistan,[5] Rumer ha cominciato la sua carriera nella band folk/indie londinese La Honda col nome di Sarah Prentice, tra il 2000 e il 2001.[1] Il suo album di debutto, intitolato Seasons of My Soul, è stato pubblicato il 1º novembre 2010 ed è stato prodotto da Steve Brown.[6] È preceduto dai singoli Slow e Aretha, pubblicati, come l'album, dall'etichetta discografica Atlantic. È stata in tour col cantante statunitense Joshua Radin[5] e con Jools Holland nel 2010.[7]

Her debut album, Seasons of My Soul, released in 2010, peaked on the UK Charts at #3,[4] was certified platinum in 2013 having sold over one million copies,[5] and was listed at #26 in the Official Top 40 Biggest Debut Albums of the Decade in 2019.[6] Rumer's voice has been described by The Guardian and many others as being reminiscent of Karen Carpenter.[7] Her stage name was inspired by the author Rumer Godden.[8] Boys Don't Cry, released in 2012, peaked on the UK Charts at #3.[9] She has performed at several festivals such as Glastonbury Festival.[10] Her album This Girl's in Love (A Bacharach & David Songbook) was released in November 2016.[11] In August 2020, she released her fifth album, Nashville Tears (The Songs of Hugh Prestwood).[fr] Rumer
