Shlomi Shabat (Hebrew: שלומי שבת; born August 30, 1954) is an Israeli vocalist and musician. He is of Turkish Eastern Sephardic Jewish origin.

Early life


Shabat was born in Yehud, Israel, to a family of Sephardic Jewish descent who immigrated from Turkey. He sings in Hebrew, Turkish, and Spanish.[citation needed]


Musical career


His CDs include Friends and Live in Caesaria, in which he sings with other Israeli artists, including his sister Lea Shabat, Shiri Maimon, and Lior Narkis.

In 2002, he was nominated for the Tamuz Award of Israel's Best Male Artist, along with David D'Or, Arkadi Duchin, Yuval Gabay, and Yehuda Poliker, but lost out to D'Or.

In 2006, Shabat released a CD which contains duets and is named Friends 2. It was his ninth solo album, and was made in the same style as the first Friends duets album from 2001.[1]

Shabat sang a duet with David D'Or on D'Or's CD, Kmo HaRuach ("Like the Wind"), which was released on March 27, 2006.[2][3] Ein od milevado


Television career


Shlomi Shabat was one of the judges in the inaugural season of The Voice Israel on Israeli television.

Shlomi Shabat (Hebreo: שלומי שבת‎; nacido en Yehud, Israel, el 30 de agosto de 1954) es un cantante y compositor israelí de música mizrají, conocido en dicho país por su amplia carrera musical, siendo uno de los mayores representantes de la música de estilo mizrají en Israel. Entre sus amplios éxitos se encuentran canciones como "לכל אחד יש" (Lekol Echad Yesh), "אבא" (Aba), "בראשית עולם" (Bereshit Olam), "יש לך" (Yesh Lach) o "ואני שר" (Ve Ani Shar). Shlomi ha sido entrenador de la versión israelí de la voz (The Voice ישראל) junto a artistas de renombre como Sarit Hadad, Mosh Ben Ari, Aviv Geffen o el grupo Mashina.[1] Tiene en el mercado un total de 17 discos, donde van incluidos Grandes Éxitos y DVD de sus giras. Shlomi destaca por cantar en hebreo, pero también en menor medida en español[2] y turco. Fue uno de los artistas encargados de poner música en la ceremonia de boda de la conocida modelo israelí Bar Refaeli.
