18 til I Die ist das siebte Studioalbum des kanadischen Rocksängers Bryan Adams. Das Album wurde am 4. Juni 1996 von seinem Label A&M Records veröffentlicht.

Entstehung und Veröffentlichung

Erneut wurde das Album im Wesentlichen von Adams mit seinem Produzenten Robert John „Mutt“ Lange geschrieben. Die Songwriting- und Aufnahmesessions fanden in eigens angemieteten Häusern statt, zunächst in Ocho Rios, Jamaika von Winter 1994 bis Sommer 1995 sowie dann in zwei verschiedenen Häusern in der Provence in Frankreich, zunächst vom Herbst 1995 bis zum Frühling 1996. Hierzu wurde eine mobile Studioeinheit des Warehouse Studios verwendet.[1] Abgemischt wurde das Album dann im März 1996 von Bob Clearmountain. Nachdem er bereits zwölf Stücke fertig geschrieben hatte, war Bryan Adams der Meinung, etwas fehle noch. So schrieb er zum Schluss The Only Thing und 18 til I Die und benannte das Album nach letzterem Lied.[2]

Bereits 1995 wurde Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman? ausgekoppelt, das zum Soundtrack des Films Don Juan DeMarco zählte und bei dem Paco de Lucia Gitarre spielte. 1996 folgten dann The Only Thing That Looks Good on Me Is You, Let’s Make a Night to Remember, Star sowie Do to You und I’ll Always Be Right There.[1]

18 til I Die is the seventh studio album by the Canadian singer-songwriter Bryan Adams. Released on June 4, 1996, by A&M Records, the album became a commercial success peaking at No. 1 in the United Kingdom and No. 2 in his home country Canada. It was recorded on different locations which included Jamaica and France. 18 til I Die featured the number one song "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?", which had been released as a single and on the soundtrack to the film Don Juan DeMarco over a year prior, and 4 other singles: "The Only Thing That Looks Good on Me Is You" (the album's second single, released May 28), "Let's Make a Night to Remember", "Star", and "18 til I Die"; the album track "I'll Always Be Right There" was also released to radio in the United States. After the release of the album in June, to promote the album, Adams toured around North America and Europe. Perhaps the most memorable of these concerts was playing to more than 70,000 people at Wembley Stadium in July 1996. The album performed lower than expectations in the US but it sold 5 million copies worldwide.[11][12]
