Piece of Me è il secondo singolo, registrato nel 2007, estratto dal quinto album di Britney Spears, Blackout sempre del 2007. La canzone è stata scritta da Christian Karlsson, Pontus Winnberg, Klas Åhlunded e prodotta da Bloodshy & Avant che avevano già prodotto in precedenza un altro singolo della Spears, Toxic. Piece of Me è rientrata inoltre agli MTV Europe Music Awards del 2008 insieme a Gimme More. È inoltre il singolo che ha fatto vincere a Britney ben tre premi agli MTV Video Music Awards, tra cui quello più ambito, ovvero il "Video of the Year".

Piece Of Me è dominata da distorsioni vocali che si sovrappongono alla voce mugolante di Britney Spears producendo un effetto sonoro fuorviante.


Video musicale


Il video musicale è stato girato martedì 27 novembre 2007 al Social Hollywood, un club di Los Angeles, ed è stato pubblicato il 14 dicembre. È stato diretto da Wayne Isham, già regista di un altro video della Spears, I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman. Il video inizia con la ripresa diretta d'alcuni fotografi, che puntano le macchine fotografiche verso l'alto. Poi si vedono alcuni di loro che indicano qualcosa e poi appare Britney con un caschetto biondo. Questa canta con una mantellina color viola scuro, ma se la solleva e la toglie mostrando un vestito aderente hot point. Un'altra Spears balla davanti a uno schermo colorato, mentre un'altra con una pelliccia bianca balla e un'altra ancora entra in un locale. Intanto s'alternano le scene dei balletti della Spears con quelle di alcune sue sosia. Queste scendono delle scale e raggiungono, non senza difficoltà, un SUV grigio. Arrivano poi in una discoteca ed eseguono un ballo sensuale e molto audace. Nella discoteca, la Spears va in bagno con un paparazzo e lo getta su una panca. Gli sfila la camicia, ma notando un microfono nascosto, usa il suo rossetto per scrivergli "sucker" (sfigato). L'immagine si frappone all'interno d'una rivista, dove la cantante alza le dita delle mani in segno di vittoria, mentre il ragazzo sorride imbarazzato. Sono presenti inoltre spezzoni in cui la cantante stralcia le copertine dei tabloid scandalistici, chiaro riferimento ai recenti avvenimenti inerenti alla sua vita privata, riguardo agli eccessi che giornali, tv e Internet le hanno attribuito. Il video ha ottenuto la certificazione Vevo.

"Piece of Me" is a song by American singer Britney Spears from her fifth studio album, Blackout (2007). It was released on November 27, 2007, by Jive Records as the second single from the album, but was actually the last song recorded. It was written and produced by Swedish producers Bloodshy & Avant and Klas Åhlund as a response to the media scrutiny and sensationalism of the singer's private life, which they had witnessed firsthand after working with her over the years. The song, acting as the singer's manifesto, has biographical lyrics retelling Spears's mishaps. It can be classified as an electropop, dance-pop and EDM-pop song that features an "electro instrumental track" and runs through a down-tempo dance beat. Spears's voice is heavily synthesized and her pitch constantly shifts; backing vocals are provided by Bloodshy & Avant and Robyn.
