Descrizione


Si tratta di un concept album incentrato sul tema del misticismo: il settimo figlio di un settimo figlio, infatti, è una figura presente in varie leggende europee dotata, secondo il folklore, di particolari facoltà o destinata a compiere imprese epiche.[6]

Caratterizzato da sonorità vicine al rock progressivo (risulta a tal proposito evidente l'influenza dei Jethro Tull in Infinite Dreams),[7] in molti brani vengono impiegati accompagnamenti di tastiere e in generale nell'album dominano le guitar synth introdotte già nel precedente album Somewhere in Time.

Nel 1995 la EMI ripubblicò l'album con l'aggiunta di un secondo CD che racchiude le b-side dei singoli Can I Play with Madness, The Evil That Men Do e The Clairvoyant.

Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (englisch für: „Siebter Sohn eines Siebten Sohnes“) ist das siebte Studioalbum der britischen Heavy-Metal-Band Iron Maiden. Es gilt als das bislang einzige Konzeptalbum der Band. Es war das letzte Album mit Adrian Smith bis zu dessen Rückkehr im Jahr 1999. Das Album erreichte in den US-amerikanischen Albumcharts Platz 12,[1] während es in Großbritannien die Top-Position erreichte.[2]

Like The Number of the Beast (1982) and later Fear of the Dark (1992), The Final Frontier (2010), and The Book of Souls (2015), the album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart. The lead single "Can I Play with Madness" was also a commercial success, peaking at No. 3 in the UK Singles Chart.
