Questo è l'ultimo album registrato con Sebastian Bach alla voce. In questo disco la band vira su sonorità ulteriormente più dure rispetto ai precedenti lavori. L'album riscosse un successo inferiore rispetto agli altri lavori degli Skid Row a causa della sua pubblicazione in piena epoca grunge[5]


Contenuto


L'album è generalmente considerato il più duro fra i dischi degli Skid Row[7]. Ricevette diverse ottime recensioni anche se fu una delusione in quanto a vendite e creò malcontento fra alcuni fan del gruppo, che giudicarono il prodotto troppo sperimentale e diverso in confronto allo stile della band. Secondo alcuni membri del gruppo, fra cui il bassista Bolan, registrare l'album fu molto difficile e stressante a causa degli ormai inevitabili problemi interni[7].

In considerazione del cambio di sonorità, si può ritenere che essa venne causata sia dall'intenzione del gruppo di rinnovarsi, ma anche dalla vicinanza degli Skid Row con il gruppo Groove metal dei Pantera [7].

Subhuman Race ist das 1995 veröffentlichte dritte Studioalbum der US-amerikanischen Heavy-Metal-Band Skid Row. Es wurde von Bob Rock produziert, erreichte in den USA Platz 35 der Billboard 200 sowie die Top Ten in Großbritannien, Japan und Australien. Subhuman Race (stylized sUBHUMAN rACE) is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Skid Row, released on March 28, 1995, by Atlantic Records. This is the last Skid Row album with singer Sebastian Bach and drummer Rob Affuso, and the last one to be released on Atlantic. Despite receiving positive reviews, Subhuman Race was not as successful as the band's first two albums. Certain tracks from the album were remixed for the band's compilation 40 Seasons: The Best of Skid Row, given more tender, slightly cleaner mixes to fit better with the other tracks.
