Promozione

L'album è stato annunciato dal gruppo il 14 giugno 2019, a cui ha fatto seguito la pubblicazione del primo singolo Wouldn't You Rather, diffuso il 28 dello stesso mese insieme al relativo video musicale.[4] Il 25 luglio è stata la volta del secondo singolo Pay No Mind,[5] distribuito digitalmente al pari dei successivi singoli usciti in anticipazione al disco: Take the Crown (22 agosto),[6] In the Deep (12 settembre)[7] e Dying Light (3 ottobre).[8]

Il 12 novembre 2019 il gruppo si è esibito a Copenaghen per la prima data della tournée in supporto album, proseguita nel resto dell'Europa fino al successivo 21 dicembre e durante la quale gli Alter Bridge sono stati supportati dagli Shinedown e dai Sevendust.[3] Tra gennaio e febbraio 2020 hanno fatto ritorno negli Stati Uniti d'America per una serie di circa venti date.[9] Con il successivo avvento della pandemia di COVID-19 il gruppo non ha potuto intraprendere ulteriori tournée, ritrovandosi a comporre nuovo materiale. Tra questi vi è Last Rites, incluso nella riedizione dell'album uscita il 6 novembre 2020 e nell'EP standalone Walk the Sky 2.0.[10]

Walk the Sky is the sixth studio album by American rock band Alter Bridge, released on October 18, 2019 via Napalm Records. It was produced by the band's longtime collaborator Michael Baskette, who has produced all of the band's albums since 2007's Blackbird. The album's first single, "Wouldn't You Rather", was released on June 28, 2019. A second single, "Pay No Mind", was released on July 25, 2019, with four further singles, "Take the Crown", "In the Deep", "Dying Light", and "Godspeed" later released. The album's cover art was designed by Dan Tremonti, brother of guitarist Mark Tremonti; its packaging was designed by Sturge Media and Janus Music Mgmt. Along with the announcement of the album's release, it was also revealed that the band would embark on a European tour with Shinedown, Sevendust and the Raven Age towards the end of 2019.[7]
