Об альбоме

В названии компиляции под «Greatest Hit» (рус. «Величайший хит») подразумевается первая композиция и сингл «Pull Me Under» из альбома Images and Words (1992), которая в 1992 году входила в десятку лучших радиохитов. Сингл открывает сборник.

Вся компиляция состоит из 2 дисков, частей «The Dark Side» (рус. «Тёмная сторона») и «The Light Side» (рус. «Светлая сторона»), каждая из которых содержит отредактированные композиции из альбомов с 1992 (Images and Words) по 2007 (Systematic Chaos) года. «The Dark Side» содержит тяжёлые композиции в стиле метал о чём говорит название стороны диска, «The Light Side» — спокойные лирические произведения.

Greatest Hit (...And 21 Other Pretty Cool Songs) is a compilation album by American progressive metal band Dream Theater released in Australia on March 29, 2008, and by Rhino Records in the United States on April 1.[3] The title alludes to their only top 10 radio hit, "Pull Me Under". It features three songs from their breakthrough album Images and Words remixed by Kevin Shirley: "Pull Me Under", "Take the Time", and "Another Day". It also features the song "To Live Forever", an Awake-era re-recording of the song from the Images and Words sessions (featured as a B-side of the single "Lie"), which was previously unreleased on a full-length album. Several single edits of popular Dream Theater songs are also featured on this compilation.
