L'album, pubblicato nel 2010 che ripercorre la carriera solistica di Williams, include 39 tracce suddivise in due CD, con tutti i singoli estratti dai suoi album, pubblicato sotto l'etichetta EMI. Il primo singolo estratto dalla raccolta è Shame, co-scritto ed interpretato assieme al membro dei Take That Gary Barlow. La canzone è la loro prima collaborazione dopo 15 anni dall'uscita di Williams dai Take That.

Oltre a Shame, della raccolta fa parte anche l'inedito Heart and I, scritta sempre con la collaborazione di Barlow. L'album è stato pubblicato dall'8 ottobre 2010, mentre la tracklist e la copertina sono state rese note, attraverso il sito ufficiale del cantante, il 13 luglio 2010. L'immagine della copertina è opera del fotografo Julian Broad, già autore della copertina di Reality Killed the Video Star.

In and Out of Consciousness: The Greatest Hits 1990-2010 è disponibile in diversi formati: due CD in edizione standard, un'edizione deluxe composta da tre CD con rarità e b-side, un'edizione DVD con tutti i videoclip musicali in versione standard e una "ultimate edition" che comprende tutti i tre CD, i due DVD e un terzo DVD bonus con una registrazione live del concerto di Williams del 2005 al Velodrom di Berlino.

In and Out of Consciousness: Greatest Hits 1990–2010 is the second greatest hits compilation album by the British singer-songwriter Robbie Williams, after his first greatest hits compilation, Greatest Hits, which was released in 2004.[1] The album, which features 39 songs, was released in October 2010 and is his last album under his recording contract with EMI.[1][2] The lead single of the album is "Shame", co-written by and featuring fellow Take That member Gary Barlow. The song is their first collaboration in 15 years since Williams left Take That in 1995.[1]

Greatest Hits 1990-2010 In and Out of Consciousness es el segundo álbum recopilatorio de grandes éxitos del cantante-cantautor británico Robbie Williams, después de su primera compilación de grandes éxitos Greatest Hits, el cual fue lanzado en 2004.[1] El álbum, que incluye un compilado de 39 canciones fue lanzado el día 11 de octubre en formato CD/DVD y es su último álbum bajo su actual contrato discográfico con EMI.[1][2] El primer sencillo del álbum se titula "Shame", coescrita e interpretada a dúo con su compañero de Take That Gary Barlow. La canción marca su primera colaboración en 15 años desde que Williams dejó Take That en 1995. La imagen para la portada fue tomada por el fotógrafo Julian Broad (Reality Killed The Video Star y Bodies), en un día de mayo en Malibu, California.
