The album consists of covers of songs by Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Afrika Bambaataa, Minor Threat, Eric B. & Rakim, The Stooges, MC5, The Rolling Stones, Cypress Hill, Devo, and others.

Renegades (en español: Renegados) es el cuarto disco de estudio de la banda Rage Against the Machine, que consiste íntegramente de canciones de otros grupos (cover) tales como Minor Threat, MC5, The Rolling Stones, Cypress Hill y Devo. Fue lanzado en el 2000, un tiempo después de que Zack de la Rocha anunciara que dejaba al grupo. Después del lanzamiento de Renegades, el resto del grupo se unieron con el exvocalista de Soundgarden, Chris Cornell, para formar el supergrupo Audioslave. Rage tuvo de todos modos, otro disco, Live at the Grand Olympic Auditorium, un disco póstumo que contiene las canciones de los dos últimos conciertos que realizaron como banda. Запись проходила в Cello Studios (Голливуд) и в The Village Recorder (Лос-Анджелес). Альбом состоит из кавер-версий песен таких артистов как Брюс Спрингстин, Боб Дилан, Minor Threat, Eric B. & Rakim, EPMD, MC5, The Rolling Stones, Cypress Hill и Devo. Альбом вышел после того как Зак де ла Роча покинул группу. После релиза Renegades, три оставшиеся члена группы создали новый коллектив Audioslave, а на место вокалиста пригласили Криса Корнелла из Soundgarden. Тем не менее, RAtM выпустили Live at the Grand Olympic Auditorium, концертный альбом содержащий записи двух последних концертов в Лос-Анджелесе, 12 и 13 сентября 2000 года, после которых группа распалась.
