Insieme ai brani Give Me Love e Love Is Here, la canzone raggiunse il primo posto della classifica statunitense disco/dance all'inizio del 1978.[1] Il singolo attraversò sia la Billboard Hot 100 dove raggiunse il numero 70, sia la Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, raggiungendo il numero 72.[2] Nell'agosto 1978, raggiunse il numero 8 della classifica britannica dopo una forte rotazione nella prima serie di The Kenny Everett Video Show. Il testo fu scritto da una giovane Lene Lovich, sebbene non fosse accreditata.[3]

Nel 1989 venne reinterpretata dagli Erasure, inserito nel singolo You Surround Me. Anche i The Time Frequency ne fecero una cover nel loro album d'esordio Dominator del 1994. La band Goldfrapp ha intitolato col titolo della canzone il loro terzo album.[4]

"Supernature" is the title track of Cerrone's 1977 album Supernature (Cerrone III). Along with the tracks "Give Me Love" and "Love Is Here", the song reached number one on the US disco/dance charts early in 1978.[3] The single crossed over to both the Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at number 70, and the soul charts, where it peaked at number 72.[4] In August 1978, it peaked at number 8 in the UK Singles Chart after heavy use in the first series of The Kenny Everett Video Show.
