Descrizione


Si tratta della prima pubblicazione del gruppo slegata dal progetto dei sei atti (iniziato nel 2006 con Act I: The Lake South, the River North). Tale progetto è invece incentrato sui colori dello spettro (nero, rosso, arancione, giallo, verde, blu, indaco, violetto e bianco), a cui corrisponde un EP di quattro brani. Il frontman Casey Crescenzo ha spiegato come l'influenza dell'album sia la soggettività della percezione e, in misura minore, la libertà che offre al suo spettatore:[3]

«Qualunque cosa pensiamo, possiamo farla. L'idea dei colori dell'umanità è troppo ampia. Questo deve essere più personale, perché le idee dei colori variano da persona a persona. Anche per le persone che hanno sinestesia, le immagini o i suoni specifici che sentono associati ai colori variano da persona a persona. E questo rinforza solo il punto di fare il progetto, di produrre la nostra interpretazione del colore, il modo in cui percepiamo i colori o siamo ispirati dai colori – come li sentiamo o li vediamo.»

The Color Spectrum is the name of both the fourth studio album by American progressive rock band The Dear Hunter, and a series of nine EPs by the band of which each reflects an individual color of the visible color spectrum (namely Black, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet, White).[5] This project was envisioned by frontman Casey Crescenzo as a way to interpret the colors of the spectrum via music. It is their first album that is not part of a common storyline with the rest of their work.
