Early life

Milica Pavlović was born on August 11, 1991, in Einsiedeln, Switzerland to parents Mirjana and Dragoslav who divorced soon after.[1][2] Because her father continued working in Switzerland, she was brought up in the village of Gornji Bunibrod, near Leskovac by her paternal grandparents, Rada and Vladimir Pavlović.[2] In a 2019 interview, Pavlović stated that she has not spoken to her mother in ten years.[3]

Pavlović graduated from the "Stanisav Binički" music high school in Leskovac and also attended the singing school of Aleksandra Radović.

Career

2010-2019: Career beginnings, Govor tela, Boginja and Zauvek

Pavlović rose to prominence in 2011 as a contestant on the televised singing show Zvezde Granda, where she sparked interest of viewers and the judging panel through her showmanship.[4][5] She managed to reach the season final in 2012, finishing in the 8th place.[4] Upon Zvezde Granda, she was signed to Grand Production, through which she released her first single "Tango" in June 2012.[6] In October the same year, Pavlović also collaborated with folk singer Dejan Matić on the song "Čili" (Chilli). Her debut album, titled Govor tela (Body Language), was released in June 2014 under Grand Production.[7] It was preceded by two singles - "Pakleni plan" (Diabolical Plan) and "Sexy Senorita" in 2013. Govor tela was sold in circulation of 60,000 copies.[8][9]

In April 2015, Pavlović released single "Selfie", which was followed by "Demantujem" (I Deny) in August.[10][11] At the beginning of 2016, she released "La Fiesta".[12] During the summer of that year, she released another single - "Ljubi, ljubi" (Kiss, Kiss).[13] Her sophomore album Boginja (Goddess) was subsequently released in December.[14] It featured several stand-out hits, such as "Mogla sam" (I Could Have) and "Boginja", and all eleven music videos collectively have accumulated close to 300 million views on YouTube as of June 2022.

In July 2017, Pavlović released the music video for the song "Operisan od ljubavi", which was inspired by the 2000 movie Malèna.[15] In July the following year, she had a duet with Aca Lukas, titled "Kidaš me" (You're Breaking Me).[16] By the end of 2018, Pavlović released her third studio album Zauvek (Forever), on which she collaborated with Greek songwriter Phoebus.[17] In 2019, she became the brand ambassador for German retail brand Deichmann in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.[18]

2020-present: Posesivna and future projects

She released two singles in 2020 - "Status Quo" and "Papi" in February and August, respectively.[19][20] In August 2021, Pavlović also began appearing on the television drama series Pevačica as the lead character.[21]

In April the following year, she released her fourth studio album, titled Posesivna (Possessive).[22] It was released independently, through her newly founded label Senorita Music. The twelve new songs were also accompanied by music videos, which were conceptually divided into three visual segments.[22] The album also included three 2021 standalone singles - "Crna jutra", "Oko moje" featuring Saša Matić and "Dabogda propao". The release of Posesivna was also followed by a media scandal because singer Ana Nikolić uploaded her demo of the song "Provereno" after it had already been released by Pavlović as a part of her album.[23] Pavlović disclosed her intentions to press charges against Nikolić several days after,[24] In November 2022, she announced her concert in Čair Hall, Niš, titled Kraljica juga (The Queen of the South), for February 11, 2023.[25]
