Elvis: That's the Way It Is è un album discografico di Elvis Presley, pubblicato dalla RCA Records, LSP 4445, l'11 novembre 1970. Consiste in parte di tracce registrate nello Studio B RCA di Nashville, e in parte di brani dal vivo eseguiti in concerto all'International Hotel di Las Vegas. Il disco uscì insieme al film-documentario dallo stesso titolo (anche se generalmente non ne viene considerato la colonna sonora ma piuttosto un album vero e proprio), e raggiunse la posizione numero 21 nella classifica di Billboard 200 negli Stati Uniti dove rimase in classifica per più di 6 mesi.

Il disco

L'album nacque a seguito di cinque giorni di sessioni di registrazione tenutesi nello Studio B di Nashville tra il 4 e l'8 giugno 1970. Elvis era appena emerso dagli impegni di Las Vegas e dal successo dell'album From Elvis in Memphis (con il quale aveva lanciato due singoli ai vertici nelle classifiche di tutto il mondo). Questa volta come produttore si affacciò Felton Jarvis, il quale aveva già diretto una sessione di registrazione di Presley nel 1966. Con una squadra di nuovi musicisti Elvis inizia ad adattare e interpretare una miriade di canzoni, alcune delle quali faranno parte di questo album. Memorabili le interpretazioni di How the Web Was Howen, Mary In The Morning e Just Pretend. L'LP esce nel mese di novembre e contiene quattro canzoni live registrate durante il nuovo ingaggio a Las Vegas: I Just Can't Help Believin', Patch It Up, You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling e I've Lost You. Nel mese di ottobre era stato lanciato il singolo contenente l'accoppiata You Don't Have To Say You Love Me / Pacht It Up. Fu un successo, il singolo raggiunse la posizione numero 11 in classifica e vendette oltre 800 000 copie.

Special Edition

L'11 giugno 2000 la RCA ha pubblicato una versione "Special Edition" dell'album in 3 CD. Essa contiene l'intero album rimasterizzato, più varie bonus tracks in studio. È presente l'intero show di mezzanotte del 12 agosto 1970 tenutosi all'International Hotel e le prove in sala di numerosi pezzi.

That's the Way It Is is the twelfth studio album by American singer and musician Elvis Presley, released on RCA Records, LSP 4445, in November 1970. It consists of eight studio tracks recorded at RCA Studio B in Nashville, and four live in-concert tracks recorded at The International Hotel in Las Vegas. It accompanied the theatrical release of the documentary film Elvis: That's the Way It Is, although it is not generally considered a soundtrack album. The album peaked at number 21 on the Billboard 200 and at number eight on the country chart.[6] It was certified Gold on June 28, 1973, by the Recording Industry Association of America and up-graded to Platinum, for sales of a million copies on March 8, 2018.[7]
